hi! i’m briar rose (they/them)
i’m an artist, aquarius and practicing animist based in kcmo, where i am the steward and lead care-taker of inner space.
i was born and raised in kansas, and have also lived and practiced in san francisco, los angeles and new york. i consider myself a life-long student of earth, body, community and spirit, which has taken many forms along many paths.
i was raised by musicians in a very groovy methodist church, found punk, drag, queer community and radical politics in my teens, worked in nightlife and restaurants through most of my twenties before first training to teach yoga in 2013. i have been teaching and managing studios full time since 2015. i have been practicing as an astrologer/diviner professionally since 2017.
i love learning, and i love moving, and i love learning via embodied metaphysical practice in community with other humans most of all! some other primary influences along my journey have included the study and practice of the reclaiming tradition of wicca, qi gong, taoism, deep ecology, nature-based spirituality and ritual performance art.
learning to love the earth with every step
i’ve been a student of the cycle teachings and active member of the cycle community since 2018. i seek to ground all of my work in these teachings, which are an authentic, non-traditional animist cosmology offered as a path for contemporary people of diverse backgrounds to step into spiritual adulthood, forge healthy working relationship with spirit and share their gifts in alignment with the dreaming of the earth.
at all times, i endeavor to teach, share and facilitate from a place of integrity, which includes accountability to the standards of my community, agreements i’ve made with my teachers, intimacy with my helping spirits and personal clarity around what i can and can’t offer safely.
my vision for sharing this work is a world where queer and trans people remember their belonging, artists remember the necessity of their gifts and all people remember earth-honoring, soul-tending, heart-centered community as their human birthright.
